NHS Wales cancer pathways (Single Cancer Pathway)

Published by StatsWales (Welsh Government) · Official source

Update schedule

  • Monthly (published roughly one to two months after the period).

Level of detail

  • NHS health board (Local Health Board)

What we show

  • Patients starting their first cancer treatment per board (all tumour sites, all ages, both sexes combined)
  • The number starting treatment within 62 days of first being suspected of cancer (no-suspensions basis)
  • The share starting within 62 days — Wales's Single Cancer Pathway standard is 75%

Caveats

  • Wales runs its NHS separately from England and Scotland, and measures cancer waits on its Single Cancer Pathway (SCP) with a 75% within-62-days target — a different basis from England's 62-day standard and Scotland's 62-day standard (both use a 95% target with different qualifying rules), so these figures are NOT comparable across nations and are never ranked together.
  • Figures are on the 'no suspensions' basis (excludes pathways where the clock was paused, e.g. for patient unavailability), matching StatsWales's own headline measure.
  • Reported per health board, not per hospital — Wales does not publish this dataset at hospital level.
  • Shown for all tumour sites combined, not broken down by cancer type.
