What we show
- The number of Red: Emergency (immediately life-threatening) 999 calls per board
- The median ambulance response time for Red calls
- The 90th-centile ambulance response time for Red calls
Caveats
- Wales runs its ambulance service separately from England and Scotland. Its official standard is that 65% of Red (immediately life-threatening) calls should be responded to within 8 minutes — but StatsWales only publishes the median and 90th-centile response TIMES, not that %-within-8-minute figure itself, so we show the times against the 8-minute/65% context rather than as a direct pass/fail on the standard.
- Response times are converted from the source's HH:MM:SS format to whole seconds; no other transformation is applied.
- Reported per health board, not per hospital or per ambulance station — Wales does not publish this dataset at a finer grain.
- Only the Red: Emergency call category is shown; StatsWales also publishes Amber and Green category response times which we do not currently display.
- These figures are NOT comparable across nations and are never ranked against England or Scotland ambulance statistics.
