HospitalCheck

Plain-English summaries

Published by HospitalCheck (generated) · Official source

Update schedule

  • Derived — not an external release. Each trust's summary is regenerated automatically whenever the figures on its page change.

Level of detail

  • NHS trust, England only

What we show

  • The 'In plain English' box at the top of a trust or hospital page: a short, plain-English restatement of the official waiting-time, A&E and staff-survey figures already shown further down the same page

Caveats

  • Generated by a self-hosted, open-weights language model from the EXACT figures already shown on the page. It adds no new data of its own and pulls in nothing from outside the page — it only puts the figures already published there into a few plain sentences.
  • Every number the summary states is automatically checked against the figures it was given. If any number does not match one of those figures, the whole summary is discarded and nothing is shown — a misstated figure is never published.
  • It makes no comparison between this trust and any other (or a national average), offers no opinion on quality, and gives no medical advice or recommendation — it only restates what the figures say.
  • It is regenerated whenever the underlying figures change, so it stays in step with the data on the page; while a fresh summary is being prepared, the box may briefly be absent.
  • This is a plain-English convenience, NOT a data source in its own right and NOT medical advice. The official figures and their own methodology pages remain the authority; where the two ever seem to differ, trust the figures.
