NHS Scotland A&E activity & waiting times
Published by Public Health Scotland · Official source
Update schedule
- Monthly (published roughly one month after the period).
Level of detail
- Individual hospital site (treatment location)
What we show
- A&E attendances per month, all department types combined (Type 1 major, Type 2 single-specialty, Type 3 minor injury / GP-led)
- The share of attendances seen, admitted, transferred or discharged within 4 hours (Scotland's national standard is 95%)
- The number waiting over 12 hours
Caveats
- Scotland runs its NHS separately from England. These figures come from Public Health Scotland and are measured and defined differently, so they are NOT directly comparable to the NHS England A&E figures elsewhere on this site — we never rank Scottish and English hospitals in the same table.
- Reported per hospital (treatment location). Where a site runs more than one department type, we sum them for the site total.
- The over-12-hour figure is reported by PHS on an episode basis, which can differ slightly from the attendance-based headline count.
- The most recent month is provisional and is revised in later releases.
